Impregnation

Impregnation is a process used to seal the porosity of workpieces. Thanks to this method, workpieces can be used for various application purposes. For the impregnation process we use a special sealant PC504/66 produced by the company Ultraseal.

Resilience of Impregnated Parts
Thanks to the impregnation process porous workpieces are closed up and can be used for various application purposes, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Moreover, impregnation also prevents the creation of air bubbles during the process of coating. When the parts are heated no bubbles will form in the paint or coating. The sealant PC504/66 is resistant to oils, greases, almost all kinds of acids, liquid fuels, gases, refrigerants and solvents. Operating temperatures can range from -75 °C to 200 °C (short term 250 °C).

Advantages of Impregnation
  • No blooming after galvanization
  • Prevention of inner corrosion
  • Porous workpieces are vacuum-tight
  • No corrosion caused by humidity of inner pores

Examples of Use
This impregnation process is suitable for various procedures ranging from simple grey iron casts to complex parts. It is also possible to impregnate non-ferrous and stainless steel tubes. Moreover, this process is perfect both for small parts weighing a few grams, and for heavy parts. Very often, impregnation is used for sintered components with homogenic structure.

Properties of The Sealant PC504/66
Excellent sealing performance of this sealant is based on a low volume shrinkage, low viscosity ensuring fast and deep sealing of micopores, good adhesion and no strain for the environment. This sealant is tough and flexible in polymerised state providing long term resistance to temperature and pressure cycling applications. The non-volatile nature of the sealant makes is perfect for the use in high vacuum.
